2008 annual report for the Mount Sinai Department of Medicine. In a year where the department cracked the top ten rankings list, numbers were a fitting choice for the theme of the book.
Awarded a Silver Award in the 2009 Spotlight Awards, sponsored by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP).
The “lead” numbers for each of the book’s sections are composed into a lively table of contents.
Sections are introduced with full-bleed photos with outlined numbers overlaid.
Asterisks accompany each of the “lead” numbers in the book. They point the reader to the title on the opposite page, which explains the number’s significance.
A simple chart tracing the change in the Department’s ranking over the years is reinterpreted as a double-page spread. Photographs of the Department’s division are arranged in a grid behind the chart.
Double-page spreads come along once per section. This one celebrates the 35 Mount Sinai doctors that were included in New York Magazine‘s “Best Doctors” issue.
Spot illustrations and large-scale type keep things interesting.
The Department’s 11 divisions were profiled in the back of the book.
